"Bestiary", as the subtitle clearly states, is a book to be considered. It includes selected examples from some of the earliest editions illustrated by Viktor Paunov, characters from his most popular books, illustrations awarded with awards, presented at competitions and exhibitions. Works from the 80s to the present day are included. The author's goal is not to present all the editions illustrated by him. The volume of the book has been carefully assessed so as not to become an unnecessary overexposure. Many of the images in it are fragments of illustrations. This rich and undoubtedly representative selection of works is organized in an extremely interesting way in this undoubtedly special edition. In it we can discover curious details and unexpected interrelationships with each new unfolding of the pages. Here the illustrations are not subordinate to a specific text, they are not even strictly limited by a certain visual narrative. Unlike almost all books, be they the most famous classics of fiction, albums of famous artists or biographical publications that have a certain focus, this book is an inexhaustible challenge to the mind of the viewer. His own imagination, even his personal experiences when looking at the book again and again at different times, make it more and more interesting.
